The Chief Theatre, the primary movie theater in downtown Bemidji, opened in 1937 and operated until 1991. In 1992, it became the home of the Paul Bunyan Playhouse as well as the venue of Bemidji Communty Theatre.

An apron sale organized by the Clara Barton Club at Westbrook's annual Hospital Days event. Apron sales, including baked and canned goods, sometimes netted over $1,000 per sale. From the Sentinel Tribune (Westbrook), 1983.
Between 1968 and 2001, supporters of Dr. Henry Schmidt Memorial Hospital in Westbrook combined work and pleasure to organize Hospital Days, an annual public event that raised money for hospital equipment and community amenities. People of all ages were invited to attend, participate in activities, and enjoy good food.
