Viking sword

Viking sword

Viking broadsword dated to between 800 and 1000 CE. The sword was presented to Bergmann Richards, president of the Minnesota Historical Society, by Wilhelm Morgenstierne, Norwegian Ambassador to the United States, at the dedication ceremony of the Leif Erikson Memorial on the State Capitol grounds on October 9, 1949. The sword remains on long-term loan to the Minnesota Historical Society from the people of Norway.
