An abandoned log barn on the Matt and Kaisa Hill farmstead, Pike Township, St. Louis County. Wayne Gudmundson, Testaments in Wood: Finnish Log Structures at Embarrass, Minnesota (St. Paul: Minnesota Historical Society Press, 1991), 60. From the book: “This deteriorated barn was divided into two pens by a log partition and had walls made of unhewn logs secured at the corners with saddle notches. It is one of six log buildings on the Hill farm” (78).
