Biography: 

Teresa Peterson (Utuhu Cistinna Win), Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota, is a co-founder of Daḳota Wiċoḣaŋ, a non-profit in Morton, Minnesota, whose mission is to revitalize the Dakota language and life ways. She and her husband, both from the Upper Sioux Community, live and raise their three sons on the ridge of the Minnesota River Valley. Walter LaBatte Jr. (Wasicun Hdi Najin), Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota, is an accomplished Dakota artist and historian. He lives in the valley of the Minnesota River, where he was born and raised. Peterson and LaBatte are the authors of Voices From Pejuhutazizi: Dakota Stories and Storytellers (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2022).
